Relativistic Radiative Transfer for Spherical Flows
We present a new complete set of Lagrangian relativistic hydrodynamical equations describing the transfer of energy and momentum between a standard fluid and a radiation fluid in a general non-stationary spherical flow. The new set of equations has been derived for a particular application to the study of the cosmological Quark–Hadron transition but can also be used in other contexts.
متن کاملGeneral Relativistic Radiative Transfer
Aims. We present a general method to calculate radiative transfer including scattering in the continuum as well as in lines in spherically symmetric systems that are influenced by the effects of general relativity (GR). We utilize a comoving wavelength ansatz that allows to resolve spectral lines throughout the atmosphere. Methods. The used numerical solution is an operator splitting (OS) techn...
متن کاملRadiative transfer in moving spherical atmospheres II. Analytical solution for fully relativistic radial motions
Based on the well known solution of the timeindependent radiative transfer equation along a ray and on suitable point transformations, general quadrature solutions of the monochromatic transfer equation for plane-parallel, spherically-symmetric and arbitrarily shaped 3D configurations with differential motion are derived for the observer’s and the comoving frame. The source function is assumed ...
متن کاملRadiative Transfer in Relativistic Accretion-Disk Winds
Radiative transfer in a relativistic accretion disk wind is examined under the plane-parallel approximation in the fully special relativistic treatment. For an equilibrium flow, where the flow speed and the source function are constant, the emergent intensity is analytically obtained. In such an equilibrium flow the usual limb-darkening effect does not appear, since the source function is const...

Cory D. Hauck Computational Mathematics Group Computer Science and Mathematics Division Oak Ridge National Laboratory Oak Ridge, TN 37831 USA ‡ We present a novel application of filters to the spherical harmonics (PN) expansion for radiative transfer problems in the high-energy-density regime. The filter we use is based on non-oscillatory spherical splines and a filter strength chosen to (i) pr...
